Treatment tables

What is a medical treatment table?

A medical treatment table, also known as a “medical table” or “examination table”, is a horizontal surface on which the patient can sit or lie down so that the healthcare professional can perform his or her work. Most medical treatment tables have a reclining backrest. Some also have a reclining leg section. In this case, their shape is similar to a chair. They are referred to as “examination chairs”.

Medical treatment tables are used for various applications, including general medicine, ultrasound, echocardiography, and gynecology. They offer different features and functionality depending on the application. For example, gynecology examination tables have gynecological stirrups to facilitate patient positioning. Echocardiography exam tables have a cardiac opening on the side, allowing the medical imaging technician easier access to the area to be observed when examining the patient. Treatment tables are used in many healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, and private practices. They are essential medical equipment for examining and treating patients.

Some medical tables, such as ECHO-FLEX treatment tables, offer features that focus on the comfort and safety of patients and healthcare professionals. These examination tables are called “ergonomic”. There are several advantages to using ergonomic medical treatment tables in healthcare facilities.

Why use an ergonomic medical treatment table?

Due to the tasks inherent to their profession, health professionals are exposed to an increased risk of developing a musculoskeletal disorder. For example, during a cardiac ultrasound, the medical imaging technician must adopt a constrained posture, stretch the arm and perform repetitive movements. In the long term, these working conditions can lead to wrist, neck, or shoulder pain, leading to work stoppages. Ergonomic treatment tables address this problem by promoting a comfortable, safe, and task-specific posture. For example, ECHO-FLEX echocardiography tables feature a curved mattress and cardiac opening, allowing the medical technician to get closer to the patient, avoid arm hyperextensions and maintain a comfortable posture throughout the examination.

Ergonomic treatment tables have other features that help healthcare professionals adopt a comfortable and proper posture. For example, ECHO-FLEX medical tables are “Hi-Lo” treatment tables, which are height adjustable. When using a Hi-Lo treatment table, the healthcare professional can work at the desired height, in a comfortable and ergonomic position, regardless of the patient to be examined and the task to be performed. ECHO-FLEX medical tables are also electrically operated examination tables, i.e., they are equipped with electric adjustment mechanisms. This means that the healthcare professional can quickly adjust the medical table during the examination and reposition the patient without exerting significant physical effort. In short, ergonomic medical treatment tables, such as the ECHO-FLEX examination and ultrasound tables, offer features that improve healthcare professionals’ comfort, safety and efficiency when examining patients. As a result, they are recommended, among other things, to reduce work stoppages related to occupational injuries in healthcare facilities.

The ECHO-FLEX 4400 DO and ECHO-FLEX 4400-GY examination tables are the simplified version of the ECHO-FLEX 5002 and 4800 series medical tables. With fewer options and features than other ECHO-FLEX medical tables, they are suggested for healthcare facilities that want affordable medical equipment with essential ergonomic features, as well as for physician offices. The ECHO-FLEX 4400 DO table is recommended for general ultrasound and medical examinations. The ECHO-FLEX 4400 GY is an examination table with stirrups. Equipped with a foldable leg section, it can be used as an ultrasound chair with stirrups. It is recommended for general ultrasound, medical examinations, and gynecology.
